Revaluation Setup and Currency Access of GL Accounts
Hi All
In this article, I am going to walk through a couple of key things to keep in mind when you are setting up new accounts in a multi currency environment, defining the revaluation setup and defining access to various currencies to the accounts.
Integration Manager only allows you to upload the Account Master information. In order to update the revaluation information and the currency access information, you can use the Currency Account Update window from Cards >> Financial >> Currency Account Update window as shown below.
Using this window, you can ranges of accounts and provide access to currencies and define the revaluation setup for the specified range of accounts and click Update button to update the information in GP.
Note that the currency access and the revaluation information is both stored in the MC00200 table in Dynamics GP. The data layout of this table is a bit tricky.
For every account for which the revaluation information is defined and the currency access has been provided, you will note that there is a record for every foreign currency that the account has access to. For all these records, the fields REVALUE, REVLUHOW, Post_Results_To and other fields relevant to the revaluation option is always set to 0 (which indicates FALSE).
However, there is one record for the account, with a blank currency ID, and it is this record which has the above fields for revaluation setup. So it is this line of record which has a blank currency ID which identifies the revaluation options for the specific GL account. The other records which has a valid currency ID, is only to define the various currencies that the specific account has access to.
Also note that the Account Currencies window which opens from Cards >> Financial >> Account Currencies, only displays all the foreign currencies that the account has access to. By default any GL account which is created has access to the functional currency of the company.
Hope this information was helpful to you…
Until next post…
